Monica Alcazar-Duarte

Monica is a Mexican-British photographer whose work engages with the way we read and integrate images and information. A former charity campaigner, she currently works on independent research projects and for NGOs in England and abroad. Monica won the Bar-Tur Photobook Award in partnership with the Photographers' Gallery in 2017. In 2018 she was nominated for Les Recontres d'Arles New Discovery Award. The same year she was an artist tutor for Parallel European Photo based Platform. In 2020 she was nominated for a National Geographic Fellowship for her work on space exploration. Currently she is a nominator for the Joop Swart Masterclass. Her work is held in the artist book collections at the Museum of Modern Art, NYC and the Yale Institute amongst others.
