LA PARRANDA de SAN PEDRO de GUATIRE

Guatire City, Miranda State, Venezuela

2019

La Parranda de San Pedro is a traditional cultural festival commemorating the promise made by a mother to the saint to save the life of her daughter, who suffered from a sudden high fever.

The commitment made by the mother was to go out to dance, sing and celebrate every June 29, the date on which SAN PEDRO APOSTOL is celebrated, in gratitude for having saved her daughter, but one day, she also fell ill and died, and her husband decided to continue the promise and dressed and made up to pretend that he was his wife and thus honor her commitment to the saint.
