Yankun Shi
Shi Yangkun (b.1992) was born in Henan province, China. He graduated from the University of the Arts London, majoring in documentary photography in 2016. Today, he works as a photographer and artist whose work has received many awards, including PHMuseum Photography Grant, PDN Emerging Photographer, TOP20 Chinese Contemporary Photographer. He is also a fellow of the Magnum Foundation of Photography and the Getty Images Grant. His work has been exhibited in various art institutions, including the Shanghai Center of Photography, Zhejiang Art Museum, and the Art Museum of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art.
Wuhan Divers
Two men jump into the East lake, a popular site for diving enthusiasts in Wuhan, Hubei province, on April 8, 2020, which is the first day of the city lifting its 76-days pandemic lockdown. The flowers were left there by a man who had proposed to a woman on the pier.
According to the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, over 50,000 people were infected with COVID-19 and over 3,800 residents died in Wuhan, the city where the Covid-19 first emerged and a symbol in the pandemic that has killed tens of thousands of people, shaken the global economy and thrown daily life into upheaval across the planet.
