The Bar-Tur Award was conceived by Amnon Bar-Tur after considering the positive impact that tutors and lecturers had on him when he was studying at London College of Printing and Graphic Arts (now London College of Communication, UAL).
‘I remember some of my tutors and lecturers vividly. Bill Jay was one of them. His passion, commitment and drive always inspired me to work harder, learn more, and aim higher. It’s this passion and commitment that you find in tutors who work in Universities that first gave me the idea for the award, how I could support students with advice and exposure like my tutors had done for me, and so I wanted to create an award that would do the same.’
The Bar-Tur Award was first established in 2011 with the generous support of Amnon and Armon Bar-Tur in memory of their wife and mother the late Ann Lesley Bar-Tur (1947-1984), a talented British Artist.
